Ichiban (ee-chee-bahn) News is a site that helps you find interesting things on the web. The stories that appear on the site are determined by you and all the other users. Each story has a score (the large number to the left of the story) that reflects its popularity based on the votes of other Ichiban users: the higher the score, the more popular the story. The theory is that stories with higher scores will be the most interesting, funny, and insightful stuff the web has to offer.
As you read stories, feel free to use the Vote buttons above and below the score to let everyone know what you think of the story. Clicking one of the vote buttons will vote for the story, either up or down. You can also access additional voting options by clicking on the downward-pointing triangle to the right of the vote button. Pick whichever option best reflects what you think of the story.
In order to submit or vote on stories, you must be logged in to the site. Luckily, this is really easy to do and you probably won't even need to create an account because Ichiban allows you to log in using your existing Google account that you use for things like Gmail. By default, your Google user name is what will be visible to other users on the site. If you'd like to use something different, just click the Settings link on the upper-right and choose a Handle for yourself. Your handle can be whatever you want it to be, as long as it hasn't already been taken by another Ichiban user.
While many of the major features of the site are already in place, we're still working on getting some stuff up and running. There are more fun and exciting things coming soon, such as voting and threading for the comment system. We're working on getting more features out to you as soon as possible, so please stay tuned.
Whether it's a news story, a cool picture, or some stupid video on Youtube, there's probably something on Ichiban that you'll enjoy. And if not, submit something interesting and help us make it better! We hope you enjoy your stay.
